Anyone have any update on whats going on with IAH?

Seems everyone is getting Detroit and the seniority number ins't changing at IAH.

I'm not sure what you're asking? It's a smaller base with not much movement.

When I interviewed the most junior person was only about 2 months out for that base on the CRJ. Now that date hasn't changed and i'm close to starting. Just wondering if it is a popular base and I should maybe plan on the ERJ with a different base so that my commute is more favorable.

Dallas is easy from Houston. Detroit is not as friendly.

Just because you get Detroit in training doesn't mean you can't move before your finished. You should be able to get Dallas fairly fast. IAH may take a little time. We are coming out of the slow season. Flying will start increasing throughout the summer which should create movement. I am Atlanta based. I got assigned DTW in training and ended up only spending 3 weeks in DTW.

Base movement changes all the time. For instance, when I was awarded my base, there was no movement into the base after me for four months. It just stagnated a little.

According to the vacancy report; Houston needs 40 FO's and they currently have that. The only way you will get awarded IAH is if the base grows requiring more FOs, or some FOs that are there currently upgrade, or move out of that base.

The current standing bid list has 6 FOs that have IAH listed as their first base choice, which means you're behind them to get the base. There are also the same amount of current IAH FOs trying to get out that base.

Dallas is not an easy commute from Houston unless you plan on driving it. Notoriously one of the worst commutes in the country.

Super rookie question. When someone says a commute is horrible, does it mean there are not too many flights, too many people willing to commute, both?

Frequency of flights, load factors, number of commuters, and reliability of flights (mainline vs regional). There are tons of factors that come into play when discussing how difficult a commute is.
