Niki Lauda

A legend in F1 racing but also 737/767 pilot, airline owner, and entrepreneur.
After the Lauda Air crash Nikki was instrumental in putting pressure on Boeing to admit that a malfunctioning thrust reverser on the Boeing 767 was not a controllable situation after Boeing insisted it was. Flight simulators in use a the time showed it to be completely controllable, they were wrong. Niki challenged the company stating that if it's controllable then lets go flying and we'll see (he was a pilot and would fly his airlines 767 at times) they balked and finally admitted it would not be controllable at cruise speeds and had only been tested at 250kts.
Changes were made the 7- fleets that used the same type thrust reverser.

Rush - Great movie about the Formula 1 rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt. Worth a watch.

Niki, the Austrian perfectionist and consummate professional, vs. Hunt, the English playboy and party animal.
