Quote: This is what I see. They are flat out ignoring me with regards to my retirement input.

Soooo, if the MEC gets a voluntary MBCBP that is flat out ignoring you? From what you two post it looks like there are 14000+ unions of one. We will get no where with that attitude.

Will it be voluntary?

That is what’s in the opener. I would guess it will depend on whether it’s legal per IRS etc. I don’t know.

If it’s not, which seems to be the case with current IRS rules, is pursuing it (knowing the non-voluntary nature) in keeping with the wishes of the group? If so, why not publish some survey results?

Also don’t forget that if you dont participate in the plan, ALPA will tax it for dues. (It won’t cause nearly the heartburn when they reinstated it later.). The chairman’s letter already says the long term solution to the dues issue was the market based plan.

I agree that the survey results should be posted. It would put to rest some of the “discussions,” especially about the amount of support such a program has... But survey results have NEVER been published by the Union and I do not see that changing anytime soon.

Who cares what was done in the past? Fix it now, especially if you’re the standard bearer of “better than those other guys before.”

As I said I agree with you that the results should be released. How do you propose to achieve that goal? I’ve got 4.3 years to go. This will be my last contract. I’m old and tired. You are young and full of vim and vigor. If it means that much to you figure out a way to achieve your goal. Good Luck.

You do it by not excusing things with “that’s the way we’ve always done it.”
