How frequently are base bids done?

Will this change once hiring resumes to allow on-property pilots the chance to fill vacancies prior to new-hires?

Would someone please post or PM a hire date breakdown for FOs in each base (most junior in base and most junior lineholder would be amazing)?

Vacancies come when they want to grow a base. They can do that by growing the total number of pilots or through displacements. FWIW this company doesn’t like to deal with displacements, so in the recent past we’ve only seen displacements when they’re trying to bring a new base up to their operating targets in a short amount of time; and this was while we were in some sort of growth spurt. To see the whole pilot list move through vacancies we need upgrades to occur as well, obviously.

To answer your question, yes, vacancies occur during growth (and displacements can happen simultaneously though usually not in great numbers).

My real question was, is there a contractual periodic base bid (monthly, quarterly, annually, etc) when no expansion/hiring is occurring or are you stuck in a base until expansion occurs? If not by a system bid, is there another mechanism for domicile trades to take place?

July there is a base swap bid. So once a year. Any other time you have to wait for vacancies

How long do you think it would take to get (hired) PHL? If you don’t get it right away, how often does Philly have vacancies?

Also, I’ve got a bottle of your choice to whomever gets me hired. 😝

Vacancies, or staffing adjustments as they’re called here, occur whenever there are upgrades or a new hire class, or in the rare instance the company needs to, wait for it, adjust the staffing in certain domiciles.... the vacancy awards new hires their domicile so whenever someone junior gets awarded something, the pilots senior to the junior pilots get an opportunity for movement first... last year, there were a whole bunch of them... 12... this year, not so much... 4... there were 3 in the 6/19 class... all Denver... 5/19 got chi, den, mco... 4/19 had phl... 2/19 had las... I’m not looking at lineholders for fo’s and I’m not sure I even can as I’m not an fo...

If they do what they say they’re going to do, you shouldn’t be on reserve very long, regardless of domicile

That makes sense. Thank you for the explanation and details. I, for one, appreciate it!!

Heard that there will not be a vacancy bid for November. So earliest right now will be December but that’s still iffy. W

Follow up question. When the vacancies come out, how far in the future do you bid? Like my current company runs a bid every month, but it takes effect 4 months later.

That’s about right... base transfers can happen a little sooner... the last vacancy was 1/16/19... projected training start date... 2/18... effective date 4/29 for upgrades (for pay purposes)... 4/1 effective date for base transfers
