Which part? Are you saying that all pilots at Atlas are dues paying members? When did that change? What about the senior verified Eastern scabs that hired on during the Choudry days?

If they aren’t they can’t work there and they’ve had a few guys get fired for it in the past after literally all options were exhausted. I think there is a religious objection that can get you out of paying but that’s it

Good deal. I knew one of them that kept his head low but I think he retired.

Actually, it makes a lot of sense. If they want to stay in IBT but don't want to be represented by an MEC that covers 4 or 5 airlines its the way to go. Get your independent local and have reps that concentrate on YOUR issues rather then spreading them out over other airlines.

The down side is that you'll have less dues money but you should be getting adequate support financially from the Airline Division.

I'm not sure about IBT, but at ALPA guys don't have to pay dues. Howver, the DO have to pay an annual service fee (slightly less than dues) because they are still covered by the contract pay and work rules. If they go that route, they give up the right to vote on contracts and individual representation.

It doesn't matter if a group decerts a union or not...arbitrators decisions remain in effect.

Your representative group is only what you and your fellow members make of it. Inhouse, outhouse, ALPA, Teamsters, APA, IPA, SWAPA ...CBA. None of them matter if your members (and the leadership) aren't engaged and working together. Volunteer members spend enough time fighting their respective companies...makes the job even more difficult when you spend energies fighting your own members. Keeping in mind you can only give '100%', so any part of that which is misdirected...well, you get the jest.

Changing affiliations really doesn't fix whatever problem you have.

I recognize the issue for Atlas is an attempt to outwit the decision/award that is not in their favor. For the rest of their problems (some have been aired thru this forum)...well, they remain either way.
Decisions and awards remain in force regardless. The issue is with the leadership of the Local in the minds of many.

I want to see the news release.

Atlas has not formed their own local yet. They have asked for permission to do this. Then it’s voted on by the Teamsters.
The pilot group will have more information on how things are going in a couple of months.
