Hey guys,

I wanted to see if anyone here has recommendations for sunglasses that work well with ANR headsets. I have Bose A20's and I used to use my Ray-Bans which had thick temples. They would break the seal around the ear and reduce the ANR in addition to being painful while wearing a headset.

I have done many searches and have not seen much other than Randolph, Ray Ban, American Optical and maybe one other. I actually had bought a pair of "Aviator" from Randolph. While the glasses themselves were high quality, the temple is too thick and interferes/ hurts while using a headset.

Recently I came across a company called flying eyes optics (https://flyingeyesoptics.com/). It looks like they are based out of Austin, TX. They have sunglasses with a 1mm thick/ flexible temples. The website states they are designed specifically to fit well with a headset or motorcycle helmet.
Does anyone have experience with this company or their sunglasses?

Serengeti are definitely my favorite for driving/flying.

Only those without debt should pay more than $30 for sunglasses.

Just make sure they actually block UVA/UVB. The fake ones from china dim visible light, causing your pupils to dilate and let in all of the UV which is NOT getting filtered. Actually far worse than no sunglasses outdoors, at least with no sunglasses your pupils tighten up to restrict all light.

Military aviator shades are designed for O2 masks and headsets. Pretty sure there are commercially available variants of that.

Yeah, no. Maybe for posing on the boulevard, you can just “get yourself some cheap sunglasses.”

As a professional flyer, good shades are an essential element of my gear. I need prescription lenses that fit well under the ear cups. I won’t find them for $30. And wouldn’t trust them if I could find them.

For several years I have used flightsunglasses-“dot”-com to get prescription Serengeti ‘Dante’ shades. A pilot on our list is a dealer, and provides great service.

Maui Jim has different models with very thin flexing frames.

Thanks for the input from everyone. I was somewhat leaning towards the flying eyes optics, as what I have seen on their website looks pretty good. Also their reviews are great. Though they seem fairly new relative to some of the other companies.
