Are you asking after *every* pairing? The majority? At least one?
Quite realistic to get at least four days off after one or most pairings on most fleets in most bases with even just a little seniority, especially if you're open to the longer trips (4+ days). I'm at about 60% seniority in my BES and have been enjoying 5-6 on/5-9 days off between pairings for the last 6 months or so. May have been able to hold it even earlier but the wife and I didn't figure out this kind of schedule worked so well for us until we tried it about 6 months ago. Up until then we had been doing a pretty standard 3-5 on/3-5 off kind of schedule. Definitely prefer the longer blocks of off days.
Depends what you are trying to do. I’m at 90%, able to get a line, then work swap boards to fairly consistently get back to back trips for a total of 6-8 days, twice per month. Let’s me minimize commutes to twice per month. Beyond 8 days in a row a get kind of grumpy. But be doing that I’m generally home about a week at a time.
If you can hold a line and have about 75-80% in a category you should be able to bid and then subsequently work the swap boards, open time scene to massage your schedule to work what you want. As a new hire commuter on the MD88 in NYC I was able to fly 4 day trips with 4-5 days home. I did work a lot of weekends, but had a consistent “rhythm” of a schedule that worked for my family.
