In future designs cabin air will probably be produced by an electric pressurization/HVAC unit like the 787. Or at least will have some more robust filters.
my point was this is not a Boeing only issue like the media is making out to be. In fact, Boeing is the only company working to fix it. The 787.

Douglass also pulled outside directly into the cabin on the DC-8. That is what the "gills" are for.
