If you get your 3rd class medical today(May, 16 2007), does it expire on May, 31 st of 2010? or end of April, 2010?

thanks!

May 31st, 2010 is the last day you can fly if you are under 40. The reg wording is a little confusing with the "month after the month." FAR 61.23(d)(3)(ii)(A)

Almost all aviation currencies expire at the end of the calendar month in which they were originally accomplished. There are a very few exceptions to this rule (ie the 90 day landing currency thing).

Your medical would expire on June 1, 2010 (May 31 would be the last day you could legally fly). A possible exception might be if you turn 40 prior to that date (in which case you would have to read the regs to find out for sure.)

The "age-40" rule as it applies to 3rd-class medicals is dependent on what your age is at the time of the examination. Take it a day before you turn 40, and it's good for 36 calendar months...take it on your 40th birthday, and it will be valid for 24 calendar months.
