Quote: depends if the contract specifies force majeure, or just act of god. These are different things.
I have heard of court cases where the statement “Acts of God” is interpreted as the same as “Force Majeure”. So, there is case law to support this.

But, with each contract, I would leave it to the lawyers (and judges in court) to make the ruling.

Often times, the bigger question is does something fall within this or not. Was a union strike unforeseen or not, were the heavy spring rains out of the ordinary or not, etc.

So, I guess we won’t be bidding on time once again. June cover sheet said July CA bids would be out today at noon. It’s now after 8pm eastern and they’re not up on flica and no communication from the company or union about it.

Talk about first world problems. I wish I was still on that bid sheet, along with about 150 other captains.

Sorry. My comment wasn’t meant as a stab at anyone. I was just observing that the company (for reasons they haven’t told us) still hasn’t figured this stuff out. Maybe the same will hold true for displacements and downgrades and it’ll end up being way less than 150. Who knows?

Sorry for being snappy. Tough times for everyone.

The July stat-at-home bidding doesn't close until Saturday, June 6th at 1500. The normal July line bid packages won't go out until the SAH lines have been awarded.

Then why don’t they just tell us that? Why do we have to dig for and interpret information on our own?

Better late than never! That must be our new motto.
