There was a CAE RSV captain that was called today to do a double deadhead (IAD DH) for a flight the next day. Curious to why we don’t activate IAD reserve captains now instead for having to do dumb **** like double deadheads. Are we really short on captains or is crew scheduling this incompetent?

they want to get him in the system, then they can use him for the next 5 days. They also may not have a reserve for the full duration of that trip with all the re-routes and cancellations with people getting stuck at outstations
