Ok, another frustrating AA jumpseat experience about to play out for me. Was just in the AA employee listing line and the agent said I had to list at the airport. The last time I tried to get on an AA flight I was told to call the AA employee travel line to list. Please.....just tell me what hoop I need to jump through. I wish there was some consistency.

I’m looking at AA 2595 PHL-MIA connecting to AA 1186 MIA-STT tomorrow the 17th. I can check loads on the Staff Traveler app no problem, but don’t know how to list for an AA jumpseat.

You could have used the ALPA jumpseat page/app. You could have sought the information from your jumpseat committee. Instead you chose to do it the wrong way and get on here and complain.

Well, he works for Southwest so the ALPA website may not come quickly to mind.

But, yeah, myIDTravel is where you need to go, same as we do to use SWA. Pilot commuter option on the drop down menu.

And to reiterate what was said before, our freight flights are essential crew only, no jumpseaters, including even AA pilots.

I had the same answer for the people complaining they couldn't list on SWA when they implemented myidtravel. Delta dudes where talking about denying the Jumpseat to Southwest. I sympathize with your frustration with conflicting agent information, but don't expect agents to be versed in OAL Jumpseat procedures, this is a problem at all airlines.

My main point is that there are dozens of Union volunteers at every airline who have gone out of their way to publish these policies and prevent people from lashing-out at other airlines (which wasn’t the intent of your post, sorry for lumping you in with that group).

Before I worked here I used to loathe Jumpseating on AA after a couple of negative encounters with surly agents. One in particular (back in 2007) demanded I call the number, watched me call and list, then asked me "Do you have a listing" when I re-approached her to get on the flight, as if we had never met. It was like something out of an SNL skit. I think it has improved greatly with myidtravel and agents overall feeling less "tasked" with jumpseaters.

Okay, so you understand where I’m coming from. It’s been hit and miss for me as well. I just wanted to be prepared ahead of time so I wasn’t trying to figure out how to list at five in the morning. Thanks for the apology. Sorry if I came across as surly. There’s a little apprehension on trying to jump on AA and it’s got nothing to do with your pilots but rather your occasional agent who seems to take joy in being miserable.

I think it’s principle with a lot of them for whatever reason. I say that because several times I’ve seen where they can’t find my listing or don’t use it and create a new record. They often don’t even ask at the places that were former Airways heavy and the AA places often seem more interested in the gesture of listing than if they can actually find your listing. Like DFW, politely show them the record located email on your phone and they usually start grumbling at the computer instead of you. Iow the game is what it always has been, just new ways of creating a wheel.

True dat. I'm an AA pilot and I have been treated SO badly by a few of them, in uniform, no less. It's embarrassing. Luckily those types seem to be retiring.
