Seat cushions. Save my marriage.

Over the years I have seen some of my fellow long haul pilots carrying around inflatable seat cushions with both bottoms and back parts. I now need one. And I now apologize for the jokes about hemorrhoids.

My problem starts with my wife's junior year of college in MUC. 1977. She came home, graduated, and got her first job. And when shopping for her first car my Father-In-Law-To-Be [a Chevy man] said "Absolutely not!" Foreign, will not be able to get parts, never be worth anything AND a manual transmission! To be fair he did, much later, give me great financial advice. But cars...not his thing.

In the here and now I have talked my wife into a set of E21 Recaro seats for her 2002tii. And at 5' 4" she is driving around on a pillow. Obviously I need a better long term solution, but it is June with only 3 months left in the driving season and I badly need a short term solution. Quickly.

My Google skills have failed me. What are these bottom/back inflatable seat cushions, and who has them?

BONUS WIFE STORY FOR GEAR HEADS. She hates dealerships. Talking in them is my job. So 2006, BMW dealership, we have just given the sales guy the printed list of what we wanted [E90......]. To fully set the stage for those who do not want to do the math, middle aged customers. Made it clear that we were willing to wait for delivery. Sales guy enthusiastically says that he has something pretty close on the lot with an automatic! And that is better! My wife, who had not said anything yet, chimes in; "then we might as well get the Volvo.". We had not even cross shopped at Volvo.

I’m sure you’ve already thought of it but what you need is a custom mounting frame/bracket, which if you can find a motorsports fabrication shop, wouldn’t be difficult to scratch up.

Just out of curiosity I plugged “Recaro E21” into google and up popped Aardvark Racing, who specialise in Recaros and old Beemers. Might be worth calling them and see if they have any idea what you could do, long term.

BTW, wife sounds like a keeper. But then if she’s suffered through this job and still with you, you already know that. 😉

That is who they came from. And I should have thought to call them. Thanks.

Thanks. The two part option looks promising, and I will forward to her.
