MES or Glider Rating

My thoughts exactly. Plenty of places to get a glider rating, and I’m definitely planning one in the near future, but I figure I should get the MES while it’s still obtainable. I can find only a handful of places left in the country.

So that’s the one I’m leaning toward this year. 😎

Plenty of MEL time and obtained my SES 2-3 years ago. So hopefully it won’t be too stressful.

Thanks for all the replies.

Just read that yesterday. Would love to do this. Little too pricey for me.

I’m considering the Air Cam outfit in Florida.

Anyone gotten their MES there?

Did the FAA finally reach a verdict on air cam training for an initial MES rating? For quite awhile initial training was stopped unless you were purchasing an air cam and the rating came with an “air cam only” limitation. If someone has an unrestricted MEL rating and is looking to add a MES rating in an aircam I don’t see what the big deal is, but what do I know..?

That’s a beautiful plane! Way less deadly looking than the -18 Sheble was using back when. I may have to take a day trip up to Duluth and do an hour or two in her. I’d love to get my hands on the Goose up in Anchorage as well.

I suspect that the FAA's biggest objection would be the lack of feathering props.

I believe you are correct about the non-feathering props being the issue.

Looks like a blast!!
