Tone, it's only expensive when you actually pay for the lease or plane. Not when you order the planes. Decoy is exactly what I thought when I saw the announcement. I can see it now. We could buy all these new planes, but all the new hires will need to have a Defined Contribution (DC) retirement, not a Defined Benefit (DB) retirement. That would save billions in the long run. When has American Airlines ever done that to new hires? Hmmmm B-Scale?

I heard Eagle pilots will be flying the 787's. It will be considered a regional aircraft since it's made of plastic. Very inexpensive labor.

I wouldn’t imagine that AA pilots would like any more flights going over to eagle. They have already taken many routs that used to be served by AA.
