Correct me if I’m wrong, but hasn’t data shown that you’re much less likely to catch Covid on an airliner than most other places? I don’t believe the current data suggests people are more at risk during air travel. That would negate his argument that this would help airlines because people would feel more safe with regards to air travel. If this is carried out, it will cripple every single airline.

I'm not sure if they're worried about people spreading it on the plane (which some studies showed isn't an issue) or they're worried about continued seeding from place to place.

The place to place spread I get. But that should have no bearing on how safe people feel with airline travel, which is what Buttigieg suggested. We need to be showing people exactly what the data suggests, which is catching Covid while onboard an airliner is extremely unlikely. Let’s not let facts get in the way of government agenda though.

People aren't afraid to fly. They are afraid of the labyrinth of nutty, off the wall, restrictions on the other end and whether they will be able to have an enjoyable vacation or one of hotel quarantine and closed parks and restaurants. Once we open up people will travel again. Iowa has lifted the mask mandate. I think Florida may be next.

Agreed. I wish our politicians understood this. We need less restrictions at this point....not more.

I think the restrictions and testing signal to the public that it's still a danger and add to people's apprehension (aside from it being a nuisance).

Saying "people aren't afraid to fly," is downright naive. People understandably don't want to be in planes during an airborne pandemic. I get it.

Even talking about requiring testing hurts the airline industry. I could see people delay booking trips to see how this pans out.
