I thought I was the only one. In fact, some of the worst sleep I've had is after taking a melatonin.

I downloaded the “calm app” and I can get some really good naps / rest. Deep breathing like in a yoga class “ take a deep breath”. As the saying goes really relaxes and can help you rest. Just my 2 cents

I like Benedryl

Makes me fall asleep hard and fast. The only thing with Benedryl is that you need to take it a long time before you need to wake up. 8+ hours. You need to take it 45 to 1 hour prior to sleep and you can only do it if you have a full 7 or 8 hours to sleep. Otherwise you'll wake up and it'll still make you feel groggy. But, assuming you take it early enough, it's fantastic

I hope that’s a joke. If not, you should probably look up the FAA medicine restrictions.

and that’s why it’s illegal to take

Yeah. Drug tests don't test for it.

It's cool to drink yourself stupid on a layover, but God forbid I get a good night's rest with an antihistamine.

DOT random maybe not.

But if you're injured, hospital tox panel will probably find it. If they don't, the FAA might when THEY test the blood sample later. Neither hospitals nor investigators are limited to what the DOT tests for.

Don’t think it’s “cool to drink yourself stupid on a layover” either, but nice redirection

I don't do it, but also don't disagree with the sentiment. Definitely taken Benadryl during time off, slept like a baby, and felt sharp as a tack come morning.

FAA requires 60 hours after taking Benadryl before flying.
