Can someone explain the FMLA policy at AA? I have a class date and we are expecting a baby right around that date. I'll most likely have to delay my class date. DO you have to be an employee for a year to get FMLA at AA?

Thanks.

We had a similar situation. Our first was due on my class date, but showed up 2 weeks early. So I went to class as planned. When I spoke to recruiting/hr about this they said it wouldn't be an issue. But I would reach out to them and apa was helpful at the time as well

Unfortunately you need the 12 months. Does your state have any kind of leave that you can take?

No, I'm in Texas.

Good to hear it works out for you. But did they tell you what would have happened if you had to leave in the middle of Indoc for a couple of days? I don't want to give them a bad impression to start with. I just want to make sure that I'll be here for the hospital and couple days after.. after that it's fine since Training is in dallas and I live in Dallas.

In that case I think I'd take FlyyGuyy's advice and talk to the training department. Roll the dice that you may need to hop out of class for a bit and have them shuffle things around. With all the crazy hiring anticipated it'd be nice to nail down that seniority number!

Don’t delay your class date. That seniority number is your family’s golden ticket

Waiting for someone to say FMLA is not allowed per LGA CP’s.

Yes sir, that’s the reason why I’m asking. I don’t want to delay anything but also I don’t wanna get in trouble if I have to leave while I’m in training for my baby’s birth. Sounds crazy to say that, and I’m sure nobody at AA would give me trouble for that, but I’d rather be careful. How are they gonna code my absence in training, for hospital duty? Missed assignment, or something else?

In that case your question isn't FMLA (which is a law requiring extensive unpaid time off for certain causes) but generic HR.
