William “Bill” “Billy” Oplah
Everyone,
Last month, the world lost a wonderful father, husband, friend and aviator, Bill Oplah. Bill served our country in the Marine Corps, after which, attended Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. After graduation, Bill was a flight instructor at SIU-C and eventually flew Beech 18’s on mail routes for Cape Central Airways out of Cape Girardeau, MO. Bill went on to fly for and was a Captain at American Eagle (now Envoy) until he gave up 121 flying. He still continued to fly, in his Cessna 170 up until his death. He leaves behind a wife, two wonderful daughters and many friends.
