Quote: . The lack of seat time, the lack of hands on flying for a year is taking out a large number of 1-2 year pilots due to the loss of flying skills![/color]

May the odds ever be in your favor...
What are most FOs averaging? Is it based on them not flying on days off or trips getting cancelled? I don't ask in an accusatory way. Really just wanting to know the account of flying to a FO can get, especially if they go to/stay at a junior, more undesirable base.

When we are discussing seat time, we are discussing actual time with butt in the FO seat on multi-crew flights. You will average between 1 to 3 landings per trip depending what your currency looks vs other crew memebers and who is up for taking the landing or sit at Pilot Monitoring if the Captain is doing the takeoff and landing. If you are doing either of those, you’’ be sitting first or second observer seat depending on the number of crew members or the front is full and there more than 4 operating crew members then you’ll have some folks sitting in the supernumerary seats.

Trust me, you will be flying getting blocking hours though, no shortage of that here on the 747 or 777.

Thank you. Had a talk about much of the multi-crew international flying, landings, who's in what seat stuff with a 32 year United CPT the other day. Still learning much of the industry lingo. Up to .07%.

Problem is that FNG’s don’t always speak up.
I’ve flown with crews where it took the three of us to convince the new guy to take the landing.
The currency info on the flightplan is just that, informational. It’s not a MUST.
” Hi I know I don’t expire but I’m new and I’d like to throw my hat in the ring for a landing”
or any friendly variation thereof and you’ll be surprised how many more senior FO’s are willing to let you take the leg.
If the Capt takes the leg volunteer to take the PM seat and don’t go checking out in the 4th seat.
I’ve done 33-40 landings a year out of approximately 110-120 legs.

‘Easy to just chill in that 4th seat.

Definitely a difference in maintaining currency vs proficiency. Not hard to get up front as we are seeing a lot more seagulls while they wait for their next gig, etc, etc, etc.
I would remember to bring rocks with me, but I like flying- especially on the long legs vs the paperwork call me lazy right there. Captain usually takes the leg when I volunteer too fast 😞, but having all the good equipment makes it stupid easy - Half deaf from when we didn’t have it…

Everyone check your 401k match on today's paycheck. Looks like we're back down to 6%.

Yeah, Atlas up to their typical shenanigans. They gave us the new match for January and back to the old match as of todays paystub. I was told the E board is meeting with the company about this today.

Wow. Not good. Expecting the 10%. Maybe retro catch up in the future? This needs to stop.
