Quote: Supposedly some of the WO flight training departments are considering using dedicated, multi-stop flights to increase pilot through put. The idea is to fill a RJ with new hire OE students so that it can be scheduled using the 117 augmented crew guidelines with enroute crew changes. Should be able to bang out 2 students per leg, stretch duty day to 18hrs, and only need two OE instructors per plane load.
Funny you mentioned this. One of the more senior fellows I was talking with was saying some airlines used to do just this back in the day. Solid idea.

That's actually used to do it on the dash at Piedmont touch and goes...

Honestly who knows what will happen to pdt.. the treatment by management to it's pilots has caused the mass attrition and there is no one to blame but themselves. Things have improved greatly there but... The phone call I still get from pilots asking what should I do? So and so is threatening me with a section 19.. we still cheer every time some one puts a resignation in ... That's not healthy. I hope they wake up and work too make things a little bit better and figure out a real way to stop the attrition. The amount of money waisted in having people leave early and not flowing has got to be astronomical.

because airlines are hiring in record numbers that have never been seen before?
