Diet and exercise are big, particularly as you get older. Your body can handle a little bit of crap, but not a lot.
Testosterone supplements OTC are one thing. Testosterone therapy is another. If you go down that route it lasts the rest of your life.
Don't be afraid to get a second opinion if the doc recommends injecting T. I'm sure some docs are well rewarded by big pharma for creating a long term buyer of their products.

not to pile on, but if you’re otherwise healthy, you need to focus on getting in shape. Don’t rely on docs and drugs to fix what you can do. You don’t have to do keto, but lower carbs and some cardio that gets your heart rate up and resistance training will change your body so much better than injections. I know it’s hard to get started, but your body will thank you.

Used to love lifting weights but I have lost interest and was just walking. I should get back to some weight lifting too.

But I'm one of those people who can be 20 pounds heavy and still do a 10k under an hour, so sometimes I get busy, eat and drink too much and put on weight. I'll lose it eventually, and even though my athletic ability doesn't really suffer, I feel MUCH better with the pounds off. I'm trying to stop the cycling as I get older, and just feel good all the time. Try it, it's great.

Try Vitamin B1
I have taken testosterone from 1stphorm and while I think it did help the thing that made the biggest difference for me was Vitamin B1 + Magnesium(helps absorption of B1). If you search Thiamine deficiency and a lot of the symptoms associated with it, lack of energy is one of those. I'll put a couple of links below if you are interested. Coffee and alcohol are are one the big causes of lack of B1 in our system and B1 is essential for energy production. I noticed an immediate difference in energy taking 100mg, but make sure you do some research as there is a possibility of a negative reaction of high doses of B1 if your system has been deficient for a while.
