I completely get what y'all saying, but, everyone is dodging the question.....
WHY, WHY are 121 pilots....(at least those no longer on probation) accepting these flights, until this is closed and shut??? As one guy pointed out, this is not the first time this has happened in the DR.
The RLA does NOT apply here, despite what some people claim or allude to. The RLA's intent was preventing job actions related to contract negioations, not a situation such as this.

Nobody wants to be temporarily jailed, but depending on your contract, every additional day is $$$, maybe at 200%, plus per diem. Pretty significant credit.

But yes, shockingly, that's exactly what they told us to do. And you notified them ahead of time and customs / DEA quarantined the jet and watched it to see who came for the drugs. Usually the drugs were hidden in obvious places, sometimes they weren't. But you sure as heck didn't say anything in Columbia or other places like it if you found them, because it's very likely the officials were in on it and you're gonna have a bad time.
Little problem there... how do you know it's drugs and not something a wee bit more hazardous? Yeah I know, if you're in latin america it's going to be drugs but are you going to take the chance? It would also be hard to explain that you knowingly departed with unknown contraband onboard.
Maybe call in sick and catch the first flight back to CONUS?

Absolutely. If you're going to fly a plane loaded with unknown but certainly illegal contraband back to the US, in contravention to all law, regulation, and common sense just to avoid inconveniencing the pax, we'll have to agree to disagree on that.

Who is "they"? Company? Eff 'em, not going to knowingly break a bunch of regs and laws for their convenience.
Also not comfortable flying a plane with unknown material in a place that's not intended for storage.

Beats the hell out of rotting in a foreign jail because the cops are paid off by the cartels and you stupidly blew the whistle on their turf. You just let the feds know you're inbound with stuff and you're clear.

I think I remember that. Air cargo carriers? If so, I have ALWAYS heard sketchy things about them. Doesn’t surprise me.
