Sikh Marine recruits can keep their turbans and beards throughout training, court rules

So can Sikh airline pilots in the USA wear beards and turbans? Of course that's private companies vs. the US Government.

“Attorneys for the Sikh recruits, meanwhile, point to other standards the Marine Corps has relaxed in recent years in order to embrace diversity, including allowing tattoos and allowing women to wear some natural hairstyles” from article.

Looks like the slippery slope strikes again.

They struggled against the Brits. Ancient warrior casts haven’t exactly dominated the battlefield for the last 500 years.

Not sure what looks have to do with it. By allowing one group of folks to retain their individuality, we will ultimately have to allow everyone else to do the same. That will force the military to walk away from the current model of turning civilians into soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines. Hopefully we will get a better product, but I’m skeptical. The change wasn’t made in order to improve training, so it probably won’t. You can scream about whatever you want, but if you want to be a US Marine, you should be as willing to meet their standards as you were to to meet the standards of your previous warrior association. Sikhs didn’t attain their notoriety by making exceptions to their standards. Of course, maybe that’s why they are largely irrelevant today. Regardless, time will tell if this decision was good or bad.
