So this question was answered a few years ago in 2018 but I want to know if there's any new updates. how long would it take to have FLL or MCO as my base since I live in Florida (I don't mind being on reserve). my other question is that I see on the website the minimum requirements is 1,500 TT, would I have less chance than someone with 2,500 hours?
Thank you a lot guys!

1. There are some one for one base transfers in each base that are less than four months. These are one offs and you’d need someone that wants your base to trade. It can happen almost immediately. More common is getting a NE base and sometime in your first or second year being awarded a FL base in the annual system bids.

2. You won’t be told yes or no if you don’t apply.

Okay thank you! I just want to make sure I understand correctly you’re saying that most likely I would get FL base with in my first or second year based the bids? I have another question for a new pilot what is the junior base? And i know other airlines do a thing were you can bid om bases 4 times a year, does JB do that?
Thank man I appreciate it you have been very helpful!

1. Yes you most likely could get a FL base in your first or second year on property with in the normal bidding system which at JetBlue happens once a year in the fall with several effective dates throughout the following year.

2. Historically JFK has been the Jr. Base on the 320 and BOS on the 190. 190s being drawn down and has no current bases in FL as of APR 23.

3. There is always a chance you could get FL sooner through base trading system which is a provision in the CBA, but that requires someone wanting the base you are in and is awarded in seniority order monthly.

Can you base trade into FLL? I thought you couldn’t because of the red line training?

What is red line training?

The “red line” on our route map that runs through central Mexico, cuts Central America in half lengthwise, and runs through northern Columbia and Venezuela.

Basically excludes Guatemala, Costa Rica, Lima, Ecuador, and most of Columbia from crews that don’t get “special” training which right now are only FLL based crews. It’s a day of some depressurization, terrain, and some other topics for operating out there.

Yes, you can base trade into FLL

Not anytime soon. Getting FLL on a swap is almost impossible, you would need to wait for the system bid most likely. Getting MCO on a swap would be a rare one off that it’s mean to try and give people any hope, it’s just not a realistic life plan.
