North American Airlines pilots have voted in favour of strike authorisation.

Teamsters Local 747, the pilots' union, said that on 1 November strike authorisation ballots for the crew members of North American Airlines were counted at the main offices of the union. The pilots reportedly voted in favour of the authorisation to strike by 99%. The union said that the resolve shown by the pilots will hopefully convince the company to move towards reaching the first Collective Bargaining Agreement for the pilot group.

The strike vote was carried out in response to repeated attempts by the company to derail the negotiations process, according to the union. A strike will reportedly take place if and when the parties are released by the National Mediation Board in conformity with the Railway Labor Act procedures.
