SHV Hotel Issues

This from our SIG on Sep 12:
SHV Update: We have been experiencing various problems with the Clarion and need to change hotels as soon as possible. The hotel options in the city appear to be very limited. For those crews that frequently layover in Shreveport, as well as those crewmembers that live in the vicinity, we would like input as to the other hotel options. Please e-mail the Hotel Committee with your suggestions.

This from our 727 ACP R.T. on Jun 1:
To those who transit SHV and the Clarion Hotel please take a few minutes to read this brief request.

The hotel administrators at FedEx Express are reaching a saturation point and your pilot ops reports (POR) are becoming redundant. Unless you have anything new, please refrain from submitting PORs for SHV for complaints involving:

--condition of rooms
--lack of courtesy shuttle service to anywhere other than to/from SHV airport
--hallway air conditioners/heaters

The reality is we have a contract with the Clarion until March, 2008. The Clarion is not a luxury hotel-we have many hotels fitting that category, as well, such as GFK, ROA, BIL, TLH, and many others. Our business isn’t as lucrative as we would like to think it is, therefore, many area hotels are not interested in accepting our business. The SHV market isn’t as wide open as other cities based upon our needs. The Clarion is very close to having trained drivers available to begin courtesy shuttle service within a 2 mile radius of the hotel, according to the Director of Sales. Room renovation is ongoing. It is also conveniently located near numerous restaurants and 15 minutes to the airport. I have stayed at this property many times and find it to be at least adequate. Our hotel administrators have visited this property and came to the same conclusion.

If your room is unsafe, uncomfortable, or unacceptable please work with the hotel staff in a professional, courteous manner to resolve your issues.

I'm glad at least our SIG is paying attention. R.T. doesn't want to be bothered anymore with those reports because he finds it adequate.

RT needs a raise and bonus for looking after the welfare of the pilots. The " hotel administrators" are the real heroes here. While sleeping in their own bed every night they can easily judge what you need to sleep during the day. Stop complaining and get on board with the company you ingrates. Sarcasm Dripping!!!! This guy will go far in mangement.

I am assuming what RT knew was (at the time) there were no real alternatives to the clarion. There are now and I think the hotel commitee is looking at them. May also have something to do with SHV going to the bus.

I can guarantee that this (the sig looking at it) has more to do with the city going to the bus than anything.

Not a slam on the sig, its just that the widebody crews tend to be used to a more discriminating experience in the hotel arena, and therefor are more likely to call BS when something isn't up to par.

I think you are right LAG.

It is absolutely not true that some of the 72 pilots would be happy with a pile of straw on the floor and a thunder jug.

True! Living the dream and loving it.

Motel 6, fleas and ticks. Hole to pee, Dial-up free. Straw under back, scooby snack.

Ten-hour break, cab is late. Noisy flight, five-leg night. Jug of joe, good to go.

Is this a memory aid for a new flow in the 72?

Sounds like time to double the amount of POR's

Let's see - we have a company reaping billions in profit and they can't pay the hotels a decent rate. This has been an ongoing problem, the company wants a guarantee the room will be available but if the flight gets cancelled they don’t want to pay for a room that wasn’t used. Who would want our business? A lot of hotels don’t even give you a newspaper because it was negotiated away to get a cheaper rate.

What a way to run an airline - OH I forgot - we are not a real airline and we are not real pilots
