Ok, almost all of the regional websites say they have “travel benefits.’
Maybe I missed it, but trying to compare travel benefits raises some specific questions:
1. Can family and parents fly free?
2. Which ones include travel to Japan and Europe?
3. What airlines can they fly?
I agree that the choice of airlines should be based on a lot of factors such as … where you fit best, quality of training, work rules, domiciles, pay, upgrade, and of course … an offer!!!
Appreciate any travel benefit info anyone wants to share about their airlines or any suggestions you may have about where to find it.

at TSA (and i'd assume everyone else) travel bennies are on your codeshare partners. For us, each airline is setup differently, which is kinda annoying. American Buddy passes are earned through attendance each quarter, with 10 a year possible. US Airways gives 8 buddy passes a year, United gives 24 segment passes a year. Parents and Spouses i believe have unlimited passes, the 8 buddy or 24 segment are only for people who aren't on your "travel" list...not sure if dependent children are listed or not, as i have none....

Comair
Guys, correct me if I'm wrong....

Unlimited Employee travel on Delta & all Delta Connection carriers.
Parents get 18 domestic & 6 Transoceanic(?)....most S3B, some S2 priority....Delta and all Delta Connection carriers
Travel companion can be named but then parents get some taken away
8 buddy passes / yr.

Right now, it's only $50/yr to activate the above benefits.

at pinnacle:

You, your spouse or partner, all dependant children fly for free. no setup fee's or per leg usage.

your parents fly for like 17 dollars a leg i believe. you also get 16, 1 way buddy passes that are worthless since you have to travel with the buddy on the same plane.

At comair something else to mention is that the employee annd family (spouse/companion, and children) get S3 priority while other DCI get S3B. Parents can use S3 if traveling with the employee. It helps sometimes.

XJT: Complicated. If you are on the COEX side:
1. CAL benefits for parents, wife, and children.
2. CAL flies to Europe and Japan
3. You and your family can get ID90s on other airlines. We have various agreements with many airlines worldwide. HOWEVER, if you are not married and have your girlfriend as your travel companion (like I do), then they ONLY get CAL benefits. I found out the hard way..

As a general rule:

You: Jumpseat benefits + space available travel on your own carrier and affiliated mainline for free or small surcharge. Additional travel at reduced rates (ID90/ID80/zonal fares/etc) on other carriers based on company agreements.

Spouse/Parents/Children: Space available travel on your own carrier and affiliated mainline for free or small surcharge. Additional travel at reduced rates (ID90/ID80/zonal fares/etc) on other carriers based on company agreements.

Parents may pay higher premiums for travel.

Some carriers will also allow employees to designate a "domestic partner" or an unrelated "travel partner" for unmarried folks.

Don't forget to consider "buddy pass" arrangements too. For example, Piedmont Airlines employees can get buddy passes for friends on USAirways mainline at a reduced rate. Nice benefit if you ever want to travel with other non-aviation friends.

hey flynavyj, I just got hired at TSA, I have a fiance and we have a daughter, from my understanding my fiance doesn't get any travel bennies? According to the agreement, I have to provide a marriage certificate. Second question, what about flying international with any of the codeshares for my parents/daughter etc...

When you guys mention "Parents" does this include inlaws? Would they be entitled to anything, or just simply the buddy passes?
