Quote: Where in my post was I boasting about the approaches I've flown??? No, I haven't flown in Mexico, but I certainly look forward to the challenge. But if you actually took a minute to read the thread, and my post, you'd see that I was merely responding to another poster's attack on "time-building" in a turboprop, as if that was somehow irresponsible. So why attack me like that man?
I sincerely appoligize. I had a bad night and came on here POed and took it out on you. I have the utmost respect for the turbo-prop guys. You guys definitley work a lot harder than most jet pilots, flying low through weather and into small uncontrolled airports (I mean that sincerely). Once again, I appoligize for the attack. It was a low move on my part.

No worries...happens to the best of us And I'm in a Jet at the moment, just aspiring to get back in the Prop in short-order!

Go for it Ken....
Upgrade time is a short 18 months...
Dash 8 is a nice ride and CLE is inexpensive while you plan your next move.
The training and the hard IFR will make you marketable to any major or corporate while paying your dues. The vote on ALPA will be in may 2008.

Thanks for the info Marty,
I live about 60 miles to the west of CLE, would that be feasible if I chose to work for Commutair, or would I have to move closer?
At this point, I'm looking for good experience which will set me up for a fractional, major etc. I'm not getting that experience where I'm at right now i.e. turbine, instrument.
Being able to bid day trips and little overnights is a plus.

Thanks,
Ken

Quote: Is Cleveland the only base out there for CommutAir now? How commutable is that base, say, for a person living in San Diego?
How commutable is it from the west coast, does anyone do it?
-Thanks.

You'll probably burn a day off flying to your domicile, due to the time difference.

Flying back....might be possible on your last day, if you can get released early enough.

Whats the story with the b1900...are they replacing them all with -8?
