Hi everyone, I know this may lead to nothing, but I'm getting really tired of working for my current 121 regional carrier and I was just fishing out ideas for any jobs in the BOS area. I'm young (23) and have a decent amount of time 1600ish 350ish sic in a crj, but does anyone know of anything around? Or am I out of luck?

(yes I know what is involved (or better put, I think I have an idea), but I don't think my current carrier can survive much longer, and I'm getting really, really burnt out on flying to the same airports everyday, all the time and plus I like to be around people, not the cattle that is in the back of my airplanes now)

There are hundreds of corporate operators in the Boston area but it is all who you know, which you know. You probably do not have the time to be competitive off the street for the better ones such as Liberty Mutual out of KBED (Global and 2 Falcon 900s.) I would suggest Linear air which is Caravans and Eclipse 300s out of BED or Alpha which is out of PSM flying the PC12 and soon Grob or Infinity jets out of ASH flying Hawkers. Hang out at KBED, it is pretty much THE corporate hub out of the BOS area.

1600ish is about 3000ish short of what you need to be competetive.

Yeah I was just looking around, I figured I'd be on the low side, ohh well, I guess I just can keep on looking. I was after even the most basic entry level jobs. Does anyone know if working at the flight school up there would help out? Thanks for all the advice.

With the economy right now, I would suggest you stay put and hope for the best. Once it turns around, you'll have better times and also better opportunities.

Up in Nashua, NH there is an operator with about 4-5 Hawker 400/800's. I know a guy who got on with them with about 1100 hours. They are a great company that you can grow within. PM me if you want more info.

They are called infinity jets, They will hire at 1000TT I was told. I spoke with them when I had around 950 hours before I decided to go 121 for a bit. Do you have any info what their schedules are like over there, I wouldnt mind considering a move in the next year or less possibly.

At your age and background, Have you ever thought about a military route? If you have 20/20 correctable vision and a 4 year degree you would have an excellent shot at this. Deadline is th 1st of May. Call them and see what the deal is.

The 133rd Air Refueling Squadron is currently accepting application for a non-rated UPT hiring board in the summer of 2008 for a pilot training class date in FY10. Application deadline to submit is May 1st, 2008. The New Hampshire Air National Guard flies out of Pease Air National Guard Base in Portsmouth, New Hampshire (60 miles north of Boston). If you are interested in the military, what C26 is talking about is a great route. Training is 18 months long but it's a great place with great experience.

Per what ce650 said, you're actually on the very low end of flight times. I have twice your time and I'm LOW TIME! Without knowing someone I'd say your chances would be nill at the better operators. But there would be a few where you would be paid 35-40k, a nice raise over first year regional pay. Try Boston Air Charters out of OWD and the Hawker operator previously mentioned. It's good experience and would get you into the market. You could also try Cape Air, get your ATP paid for, fly out of BOS for a year and make 40k. Single pilot IFR is fantastic experience!!! I would say stay with the regional for another 400 hours or so (2000 hours is a good round number) at the very least. Conduct your job search on your days off. I like the idea of Alpha Flying if you can get an accelerated route to the left seat of a PC12 (I think you need 1500 hours and an ATP to qualify for PIC). Keep in mind that they will be adding Grob jets soon although you might have to wait a long while to get into one.

To summarize, I would look at Alpha Flying and that Hawker operator out of Nashua while you continue to add hours. Plus, do the normal networking at BED and other area airports - shake hands and smile. If you don't ask you won't get...
