Part 135 International Bases
I have a question for those of you who might know the answer. Can a US Part 135 operator base equipment and personnel in a foreign country? For example; A year ago Priester Aviation had a G 200 base in Hong Kong. The pilots lived there and maintenance was performed there. I am assuming their POI, PMI and PAI new of this. They still needed to comply with Part 135 regs such as random drug tests and drug screening for maintenance personnel, duty times etc. Can any certificate holder just set up operations in another country ( Host nation allowing) and start flying charter. Maybe there is an agreement with a local AOC holder that allows for additional lift capacity. I don't know. I am not specifically talking about 1 company in Hong Kong ( they are no longer there) there are several in places like Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Can anybody shed some light on this..
Thanks in advance

Yep it can happen.... isn't overly common but it does happen... Air Tahoma has bases in Subic Bay and Mexico... I think they are hiring....
CPT used to have a base in the Philipenes but not anymore.... I think it is very expensive.... but I don't really know.
