I'm fairly sure most of us have heard the story, I'm just curious if anyone has the official version (ie was involved first hand).

I'm speaking of course about the whole slew of guys getting excessed on 08-03, who then approached the company about purchasing their houses. (which is an inarguable, so I thought, contractual right). The story I keep hearing is the company said "No way, sorry tough luck", and a group of guys got their own attorney to set things straight with FedEx, as in "Yes you will by my client's house etc..." Bid 08-03 was canceled shortly afterwards.

My question is, is this true? Did the company actually try to deny the fact they have to purchase peoples homes when they are excessed, regardless of whether the home is located in domicile not? Why did the guys have to get their own attorney to set FedEx straight? Where was FDX Alpa on this one? Albie or TonyC please chime in if you have some accurate info.

Thanks

I suppose the record will be set straight via FCIF on that one within a few hours!

Lets hope the company gives even a thread of information soon but I'm not counting on any truly factual information. As for the union side, I can hear it now, "that wasn't the intent when we negotiated that". Heard that before? We've got two stupid parties more worried about saving face than making anything better. But I'm trying to stay positive...

I'm hoping one of the pilots actually involved in the thing will post here and set the record straight. Like you said, if the info is coming from the company or Webb, I wouldn't count on it being all that factual. If it's coming from one of the guys who actually paid the lawyer (if that is the case), I'll belive it!

I think that if you approached the company because you were excessed on a PRACTICE BID, you wouldn't get in the door so this sounds like rumor mill stuff, However, the potential to buy all those Germantown, Cordova and Collierville houses that wouldn't sell might have been a big factor.

I spoke to the FedEx move people and there was no denying they owed us a move and a house purchase. I don't know about the lawyer deal that sounds like a sea story. I think the company once faced with the hundreds of homes they were getting ready to purchase while the real estate market is in the tank, had a moment of clarity and decided it was a bad decision.
