FDX-Using Max BLG on VTO Request?

Subscribe
Has anyone had success recently with trying to get some extra BLG by adding "Max BLG" to their secondary line request since the BLG started going down. I have generally avoided using it in the past since I've had some buds end up working everyday in the month but that was b4 the BLGs started going down. Thx.

BTW, I've read the VTO instructions and I'm aware of that MAX BLG may outweigh inputs of a higher ranking, may be willing to risk it.

Not sure if you are ANC, LAX or MEM -- the answer might be different for each base. However, look at the last two months of VTO lines. It is easy to do in VIPS......

Look at +/- 5 for your seniority to see what was awarded (you never know if one or more of the VTO requests were for MIN BLG). It is my understanding that the company will put ONE day of Reserve to bring you up to 68 hours, if they need to!

FWIW, I've heard of Boeing guys bringing in 72 - 74 hours with MAX BLG requests in the last few months.

So would one be considered greedy if one bid for max BLG during a time when all other FedEx pilots are getting min blg? Oh, never mind, that's the topic of another thread.

Lindy,

Thx, I checked the VTO lines (Mem MD11) over the last few months and they run pretty pretty close as far as BLG goes (+/-3 hrs) for hi and lo ranges so it's tough to tell. Was just wandering if anyone on the board had been bidding that way.

I usually ask for Max BLG and then can pick which trip I want to drop

Personally I like to work only 60 hours a month

Not sure. I have been dropping a "penalty" trip per month the last few months.

I am trying to remember these days because FDX will never, ever be overstaffed in the future. We will pull many of these threads up in 5 or 6 years and say "Do you remember when we only had to work 68 hours versus 78 hours in a four-week month???"

(This is making several assumptions, the price of oil will not hit $300/barrel, there is not a world catastrophe, FedEx isn't sold to the UAE, etc....).

Good Luck with bidding......

Remember: one man's treasure is another man's trash

Prior to the Postal contract we had an LOA that was shot down because of too many what ifs. The company just raised the average BLG to cover the extra flying and all you heard was complaining about having to work more each month. Now we are at reduced BLG and all you hear is whinning about not making enough.

Are we ever going to be happy?

I know it was a stupid question - whining and complaining are required skills for this job
