FedEx Express upgraded its next-business-day delivery from Europe to major U.S. East Coast cities.

Customers who had two-business-day service can now reach more than 3,500 zip codes in key markets along the U.S. East Coast overnight with International Priority service. Customers who already had next-business-day delivery service to the region will get later pick-up times of up to six hours.

U.S. cities that will receive packages by 3 p.m. Eastern time include Washington, D.C., New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Boston and Baltimore as part of standard FedEx Express International Priority service.

Next-day service will also be available for heavyweight or bulky shipments from European gateway cities through the upgraded FedEx International Priority Freight service.

"The EU and the U.S. have the largest bilateral trade relationship in the world," said Robert W. Elliott, president, FedEx Express, Europe, Middle East, Indian subcontinent and Africa. "With this service enhancement, we will deliver a superior experience and added value to European customers with a standard cut-off of up to six hours later, and delivery into key East Coast markets the next business day."

To support the service upgrade, FedEx will launch a new westbound trans-Atlantic flight and fly a wide-body MD-11 freighter four days a week between Paris, Charles de Gaulle Airport and Newark, N.J. The company will also introduce two new Airbus A310 flights, including flights originating from Barcelona and Budapest-Vienna.

The FedEx International Priority service provides connectivity to European customers and suppliers, featuring late cut-off times and early deliveries from points of origin including Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Gateway markets for the enhanced FedEx Express International Priority Freight service include Brussels, Belgium; Basel, Switzerland; Copenhagen, Denmark; Madrid, Spain; Paris, Lille and Mulhouse in France; Eindhoven, Netherlands; and Stockholm, Malmo and Gothenburg in Sweden.

Man, you're a tough sell - Maybe good news for FEDEX MD11 and A310 Crews (More Flying). Maybe good news for some of the FEDEX customers (Better service times). Maybe good news for the US Taxpayer as this will mean more jobs in the US (I'm not going to have to pay for as much of the unemployment insurance). And just maybe some good news for BOYCAPTAIN.

Hey, more Newark layovers, who wouldn't be happy about that??

Hopefully we can get all of them with EWR-STN-CDG legs followed by a 15 hour layover and then right back to EWR with another 15 hour layover and then all night to ANC!

My preference is DH EWR layover (at least 2 days to recoup ) and than a one legger to Europe; STN, CDG, FRA doesn't matter. Than back to EWR, DH home. Okay will accept trips with a DH from Europe, but only if the airfare is really good! LOL

Only if Patricia don't call me Patty is on the DH with you though as I recall. And we don't know what a DH with a one leg to Europe is in ANC.

That is true. I sold my soul to the devil and now I have to work for a living. I used to enjoy being a rockstar FO flying around the world first class. You never know though, with another excess bid I might end up there again!
