If I remember correctly, the hours are 0730-1030 (M-F) and 0800-1100 (S). She is closed on Sundays and holidays as well.

Mods. Can you eventually move this to the layover forum under KIX?

Speaking of 500 Yen..............I was also at KIX on a layover and another crewmember took me to a bar run by Aussie's that has any drink for 500 Yen. Beer, mixed, foo-foo drinks, martinis, you name it. It is in the habitrail and I recall taking a right and it was down on the left side just before a traffic light but I haven't been able to find it. Anyone got vectors on that?

The only way this could be funnier is if you also had to take a short commuter flight to get there.

Yeah, it was definitely easier from the old Fedex layover hotel, when it was just a 5 minute bus ride to the Yodabashi store. It's about a 25-30 minute evolution now. It's worth it if you're really hungry, though. It also gives you a chance to see a little more of the city than just the three blocks around the hotel. Or maybe not, maybe a quick walk across the street to the McD's is more what you're looking for.

Used to tell folks to take the bus to the Hankyu-Umeda station (Hankyu, Hankyu very much!), head toward the PIAS building, hang a right and on the other side of the fire staion was Cafe Y. It's a social morning with unlimited coffee with real cream, scrambled eggs that aren't boiled into a gruel, great bacon, Texas toast and with any luck you meet some new and interesting people. If you want someone to go with you, just ask them what the heck else they are going to do that morning in Osaka?

I'll take the hour trip any time to eat good food, especially if it's off the beaten path local stuff. Not so much for the sake of saving three bucks on bacon and eggs in Osaka.

Tried following these directions, and found some pitfalls. Getting out of the Umeda subway station proved to be challenging. There are a 1000 exits and the maps were not very helpful. Eventually decided to go outside and walk around station and hopefully see the Yodabashi store. Found it, and another map that gave me a compass bearing. Headed north and tried to count blocks (3); but one man's alley makes anothers man's block. Lucked onto the right street (as you head north, you will come to a blue staircase on the sidewalk that goes up and across the road, go past staircase 10yds and turn right, now you are on the south side of the PIAS bldg.) Found the Toast Lady, but alas, she was closed, as today turns out to be a holiday

Walking back, I found the correct exit from the Umeda station. It is in the yellow circle#2 section, green square 3 9 exit. Go right as you exit and you are heading north from the yodabashi store (which is facing you as you exit).

Getting back to the hotel from the Namba station was another adventure...I'll leave that up to others to solve because I got lost, wandered, and did not take notes...

It's much easier if you get off at the Nakatsu exit (M-15), one stop beyond Umeda, then exit #1 to the Ramada Hotel. Then south to HonjyoNaka St., left/east two blocks and it's on the left. Brown awning with a big yellow Y. The price has gone up to 600 yen, but it's still worth it.

Ok, for us that are not nearly as worldly, how much is 500 yen in terms the simple can understand?
