Does ERAU still lease that citation for the board? Most of which I remember from ERAU is this: Not sure if some of the professors could pass the TOEFL... seeing some ridiculously expensive buildings being constructed ... lot's of popped collars ... chicks that looked like dudes ...

Had a little extra time on my hands to make this:

Quote: Get a pharmaceutical degree and BUY your own airplane. I have an aviation degree, don't get one.
Agreed.

Or-even better, start a small medical company and be an enterpreneur. About the only community folks I teach to fly own their own airplanes and are also small business owners. (Some with the financial ability buy Cirrus aircraft)

d22, I rarely post, but whenever I see someone about to take the Riddle plunge I step in. Here is my Embry-Riddle story. I started at erau in 2004, I quickly left the flight training because of the cost and went to a FBO across the street, but I continued the aviation courses and learned a lot. I then returned to the schools flight training program for my CFI and CFII and worked there for almost 2 years before graduation and going to fly RJs. With multiple scholarships I was about 80,000 dollars in debt (nothing compared to most people at erau) . If I had gone to state school, assuming no scholarships and the same flight training cost I would have saved about 10K. Would I do it again??...NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An aviation degree limits you to only a flying job, or a few other select careers related to aviation support. That very flying job that you got the degree for doesn’t require an aviation degree. They only want some degree, or if they really need people, no degree. I would guess that roughly half of all pilots have been furloughed at some point in their careers, I already have been. I sure wish I had a CPA or something of the sort to fall back on. All in all riddle is not a bad school, you can learn a lot, it's just not worth committing financial suicide for.

Despite what the ER recruiters may tell you, the aviation industry does not hold their graduates in high regard...if anything we laugh at them behind their backs for spending all that money for no reason.
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!

Further, should you someday come to your senses and decide to get out of this toiletbowl of an industry, a degree from pretty much any state school will carry some weight. NO ONE outside of aviation knows or cares who ER is, and your degree will be regarded accordingly.
