Heard a ASA CR2 caught fire in TLH a few days ago. Since being furloughed I'm no longer in the loop so to speak. Heard the a/c was empty at the time but that's about it, anyone know anything more about it?

That is true. The plane was just powered up with external A/C and the captain and the f/a were onboard. The f/o was doing a walk-around. The fire started behind the captain in the circuit breaker panel area and burned a hole through the skin of the plane. As of speaking w/ maintenance tonight (had to ferry a flight to macon so had lots of time to chat), the NTSB had the airplane and nothing about the cause had been released. Also got to see the 700 we ran off the runway in SAV.

Wow, looking forward to reading the NTSB's report, thanks for the update. Glad there were no pax aboard during the incident! Very interesting that you got to see the SAV 700. I hated ferry flights to macon, I never got to see anything interesting like that. Happy flying..

i heard there was an oxygen line leak and that it caused the fire and is why it burned right through the skin of the plane. from what i have heard the cockpit is pretty much destroyed.

According to the maintenance guys last night, they thought it had something to do with the air conditioning ducting. Nothing to do with the oxygen lines, however the company did say that all the oxygen lines on our planes have since been inspected...........kinda makes you wonder

Both engines were taken off the plane 2 days ago, the plane is now in the maintenance hanger. The company doing maintenance on it is owned by the same guy that owns the flight school that I work for.

An O2 leak makes sense. Otherwise it would be hard for an electrical fire to burn through the fuselage before airport CFR got there...those guys generally come quickly when called. The jumpseaters O2 line probably goes behind that CB panel.
