Trust me when I say it is DEFINATLY the last place you want to work. Lowest pay in the industry and crap reserve system. Stay at your regional if thats where you are.

The merger process is moving along at the usual pace, it will continue until an arbitator makes his call opn how the two senority lists are merged. expect that sometime later this year.

In the mean time, if you are interested in US Airways, the prospect of off the street hiring is actually not that distant. It all has to do with the E-190.

You see, the pay for the E-190 will be regional, not major. And as such, many of the pilots on furlough will bypass a recall to US Airways until they can recall into the right seat of a Boeing or Airbus (at the higher pay scales). The other factor is that no flow through program has been established from the Wholly Owned US Airways regionals (although they have been talking about it forever, they have to get the company to sign off on the idea.) Add these two things together and you can see that they will probably need to hire off the street to staff F/O's on the E-190 even while a fair number of mainline pilots are still on furlough.

Long story short, if you do want to work for Airways, the chance to do so might happen in 07, if you are willing to start off at regional payscales as a E-190 F/O.

Hope it helps.

Savannahguy is right. My guesstimate is for off the street hiring at LCC (for the right seat of the 190 only) sometime late next year.
