You'll get no argument from me. I'm with ya! How about the full time air traffic controllers flying contract on the side? I personally know of 3 senior controllers flying right seat contract while several very experienced unemployed pilots are struggling to take care of their families.....on the same airport!!!

Though I'm in a position to benefit from a retirement age for 91k/135, I have to disagree. Whether it was perceived or real, demand was the reason the fractionals were hiring. If the old guys were forced out, more young guys would have been hired. NJA, Shares, Flex, Options would all have the same number of guys on the street right now. Now, if retirement became mandatory effective January 1, 2010, it would be another story. But it's not going to and it's really not an argument worth starting again.

I flew with a guy who was 70 and didn't take the early out.

He retired from the airlines in the good ole days and had a full pension. I guess he doesn't like his wife.....

Let me guess, he didn't participate in any of the voluntary measures either.

When I come back and fly with these "fly till ya die" guys, I'll be sure to make sure they help chuck bags, clean and do all the other parts of the job. I'm not picking up any of their slack just because they're old.

Yeah I rode the bus the other day with a 65ish FO who was mad because he won't get unemployment when he is furloughed because of his military and airline pension. I feel so bad for him. He may have to sell one of the lakehouses. Oh and to the senior FO who said he was looking forward to getting a X fo spot after we all leave in front of 4 to be furloughees kiss my a$$

Anybody who wants to go fly the X which pays the same as essentially all other fleets , but works harder must be a little off their rocker.

Do you mean that fleet is highly utilized and therefor you fly alot and by that you mean work harder -or - are you saying that it is harder to fly the X than other fleets?

We have a guy who is an attorney that has stepped all over my contract flying. He just got his multi-comm last year, and now he is taking food from my kids mouths! I guess I should go to law school and steal his clients. People like this are a disgrace to our profession! Not to mention a liability to everyone else.
