Just a quick note to remind everyone about the federal minimum wage. Have you seen any posts here or elsewhere saying something like "You can't even get hired at Home Depot"?

It was about 2 years ago that the gov't intervened in the labor market (again) and decided for employers what an hour's work was worth. Many people said that unemployment would go up. It has.

Notice that I did not say that the new hourly rates caused the financial crisis or the recession. I am saying that the new rates will make it harder to recover from the recession.

I'd also like to point out that it was not the current president that signed the bill into law (although I'm sure he voted for it in the senate)--it was his predecessor.
