Does anyone have any current info on Yellow Air Taxi out of FLL? I just had an interview and was trying to find some people that know anything about the operation. Thanks a bunch in advance

I believe they keep getting in trouble every few years with FAA violations and have opened and closed several times.

they had some maintenance incidents last year & their POI revoked their op specs for scheduled authority, so they're trying to recoup from that.

The biggest hurdles facing the 402 operators are that the planes are really getting up there in age; you have American Eagle, Continental-Gulfstream, and now Locair adding lots of service to the Islands - giving customers more choice (would you choose an ATR over a 402?). Its going to be a very bloody year to the Bahamas in terms of operators, which is why Gulfstream & Locair have ops outside of Florida.

Can't recall specifics, but haven't heard many positive things about them over the years...

I see, Well thanks for the info. I think ill steer away from them, i've delt enough with the shady maintenance with my CFI job.

We have 2 pilots from Yellow Air Taxi working where I work and both of them stated they left because they were not being paid. Said it was normal practice not to get paid for several weeks.

I think everyone's payroll is late at least once if you work for a 135 in South Florida, especially between September and October.

The folks at Lynx/FCA are due a few months pay, depending on position.

You are correct, but at Yellow Air Taxi it not just late, they just don't pay you and when you threaten not to fly until your paid they just don't call you in and when you quit, no money. Out of sight, out of mind. I've been told some pilots have gone to small claims court and got judgements aginst Yellow Air but have not collected any money. Being asked to work a couple of week and hold your check while its slow and not even given a check at all is two different things.
