I was wondering about the pay charts listed on this site. If you are a FO with 5 years seniority, and you are upgraded to Captain; do you go to the hourly rate of Captain at 5 years or do you go to Captain at one year?
Just curious..... Thanks to anyone who could answer.

The years are time with the company as a pilot. You do not start over at year one when you upgrade. Hope this helps.

Thanks SWAcapt,
I thought they might be like military pay charts but not sure. Thanks for the clarification.

Speaking of pay charts
Check out the pay calculator to the right of each pay scale chart - its new as of this afternoon. It a dynamic Flash movie that allows you to set any pay rate ($15 min./$300 max.) and multiply it by monthly credit time AND number of bid periods. So you can easily take a rate, make your assumption of how many hours they fly per month, and use the bid period scale to see monthly, quarterly, or annual base pay.

Feedback welcome!

Here is Southwest's page for an example: http://www.airlinepilotcentral.com/content/view/48/17/

Oh also, the flash movie is 158kb - not all that small but you only have to load it once then it's available for any page once the movie is in your cache.

I saw the new pay calculator and love it. I stumbled onto this web sight in 2004, man has it come a long way ,,,,,,,Do all airlines operate on 13 bid periods annually?

Good job, APC. You're leaving AIR INC in the dust with the kind of quality info you're posting.

When are you guys going to put up a pay comparison chart again? Your old site had it.

No, the only airline I can think of is ABX (I think it's ABX!) which operates with 13 bid periods of 28 days each. And no, I don't know who get the extra day So, I included 13 bid periods for them.

Thanks for the feedback & remember if you have an idea that will make the site better - please use the "contact" link on the main site and let us know how we can improve.

All the Best - Paul

Thanks for the positive feedback, we hope the pilot community finds value in what we do.

Regarding the comparison charts, yes!, they will be back soon. We've been playing around with some different formats that allow us to present the info in a dynamic format - I think we're just about there. Look for those charts in early July for ALL fleets from the 1900D to the 747-400. We'll compare each airlines hourly rates by airframe for capt's and fo's. There will also be dynamic features (like the pay calculator) although we are trying to be bandwidth friendly so I can't promise features just yet.

The comparisons are in demand for sure and I think they'll be a nice addition to the site. I know everyone wanted them yesterday but we're going to wait and release all of them at once (about 50 in all) . I'm hurrying but the crew desk keeps calling!

As the format isn't set in stone - let me have it....... What features would you like to see in a pay comparison???

Can't wait to see.

UPS also! 13 pay periods of 28 days each. I also believe FedEx has a noncalendar based system of 28 and 35 days or something like that.
