Quote: "Actually, it's not that far fetched. What will all these new hires at FDX be doing IF they lose the entire mail contract? FedEx does not have an entitlement to carry the mail and it is entirely likely that they will lose at least 50% of the contract."

State your sources. UPS, as good as it is, has no where near the network or aircraft that FedEx has to fulfill this very large contract. Now I don't know if they will retain the entire contract, but losing anywhere near 50% of it sounds very unlikely. Again, state your sources if you have better info. With idiots like Browntail backing you your are already lacking credibility. BTW, I am sure the USPS loves the way the contract talks have gone at UPS. I am sure that will factor into thier choice as well. Good luck..
The only thing that will factor in is whoever is the lowest bidder. Alot of FedEx's hiring in recent years has been for the postal contract. If they lose it or a portion of it, will mean significant furloughs.

Sounds like a sound business man. Watch Fred let him bid so low that they lose money to get it and take on UPS on the international arena where the losses from that flying will allow FedEx to make more money flying at better prices there and continue that expansion. I only hope this guy is as stupid as he sounds.

Lekite's may be dumb, but he's not stupid. He said that UPS is fully prepared to take a loss on the postal contract just to get it away from FedEx. He also said that they are going to be pursuing all postal business, domestic and international. UPS goes everywhere or more than FedEx does, so that isn't an issue.

If he said this and means it he is both dumb and stupid.

I meant with air service. There is no way that UPS can currently match FedEx's destinations flown to by FedEx jets and their frequency. Your ground network is obviously different but we will see what the USPS is interested in. They call it air mail for a reason. If you think UPS has anywhere near the air capability and network with their jets as FedEx does you are about as smart as your boy making the above comments.

Browntail or whoever you are...The majority of the hiring at FedEx is for international expansion in the Asia market. The rest of it is due to the fact that we have hundreds of guys retiring each year for the next 15 years. The company is way behind the eightball on just keeping up with attrition. So, I am sure you will be disappointed, but I doubt that even if we lose the postal contract there will be a bump in the road. By the way, you really do make UPS guys look bad. I have many friends who fly at UPS and you definitely do not represent them. I really doubt that they would hire a bogger eater like you. Why don't you find another hobby.

BT,

So what you're trying to say is that UPS is no better than Mesa/GoJets/etc? Nothing like seeing a pilot encouraging management to undercut other carriers (at a loss) and then posting an idiotic thread about furloughs.

I feel sorry for the other crewmembers that you have to work with...

Fed Ex has Raised its prices domestically to slow domestic growth and allow international expansion. Since the stuff we carry now for USPS our direct competition, the Express and Priority, FDX could lower its prices to directly compete with the USPS. All USPS's have a FDX box right outside. Not sure if those go away if the contract goes away.

This mail to UPS is for Saturday only, and only 100 mil. The FDX contract is 1.3 Billion. UPS will definatly be competitve for the next bid. but so are we.

If we lost part of the mail, (which we have stopped hiring for, Our 300 a year is retirements and international expansion), we would probably lose a corresponding amount of domestic day flying, but that would free up our planes for the stuff we wet lease for now and allow us to quicken the pacific growth.

I'd love to see UPS undercut anyone to get business.

Losing the postal contract would hasten the retirement of your 727s,

Just ignore BT
Why does everyone get bent out of shape when Browntail posts his idiotic remarks? He gets a lot of enjoyment in ****ing people off. So the less you respond to his comments, the less happy he will be. Just ignore the jack***.

By the way, I am a UPS pilot and this fool does nothing to represent 99.9% of our pilot group, so please just ignore him.
