Big tax credits and cheap future energy! No wonder FedEx was interested ... I wonder if the pilots paid for this $800,000 system with 4a2b savings?

I watched the whole piece on 60 Minutes last Sunday and it was very interesting. FedEx, as usual, was smart in investing in this technology because not only did it end up costing only half of the true purchase price, but has immediately started to save the company money in electrical energy costs. As well, this purchase will continue to pay dividends through tax incentives. FedEx, as one of the initial customers, will also help Bloom Energy, the manufacturer of this technology, to refine their technology, manufacturing processes, and product reliability, which should help them in reducing product costs, thereby making this a very viable energy producing and saving product. From the 60 minutes piece, they said that a "device" about the size of perhaps 8" X 8" by 18" would be able to provide all the electrical energy needed to power the average American home. They went on to say that the same sized device could power two average sized European homes and three Japanese homes.

And at the end he said they should be able to sell a consumer version for $3000 in just a few years. That would be amazing.

Or 27 devices could power one of Al Gore's homes.

Actually, since he "went green" due to the Global Warming fiasco... it would now only require 26 of these devices! hahh..
