Lets say on the next bid you bid--

777 FO 100%
A300 FO 100%

You are awarded 777 FO with a training date 1.5 yrs down the road.
The company hires into the right seat of the airbus. Do you get passover pay for that year and a half?

Hey but they both pay the same!

What if it is a 777 bid and they only fill a few Airbus secondaries. You could have held airbus on last bid but not on this one. Do you get passover pay?

Just sayin'
This is exactly why we need to see frequent but smaller bids! For example, if you are a 727 SO and you bid A300FO, 757FO, 727FO and you are awarded A300FO or 757FO you are waiting 18 months for a training date but if you had bid 727FO first, you would have been in class the next month and be financially ahead for 17 months.

The company says, "bid what you want to fly". I say, If you are looking for money right now, bid the next highest paying seat that gets you into training immediately. Otherwise, wait 18 months for the highest paying seat you can hold. As far as passover pay scenarios, who knows? Of course, one may be able to swap with someone for an earlier training date but getting everyone in between to waive passover pay is not a guarantee!

Could of, Should of, and Would of mean nothing here!

Passover pay is a/c and seat specific. You had to of bid the same a/c and seat position that someone junior to you is activated in ahead of you.

And on the last FDA LOA, we gave away this "virtual training letter," so the company was delaying when you actually got passover pay. Just another fine gem we all took.

Slight correction, you had to have bid and been awarded that seat, and then have somebody junior to you activate in it on the same or subsequent bid. That is why the answer to the original question was no.

The virtual training letter only applies to people who did not receive an excess award into an FDA and are do passover. Not sure if you were talking about this in reference to general passover rules or not.

It was not given away as part of the LOA, it was the result of a grievance settlement, I think, that resulted from the excess bids and the passover language for being denied an FDA slot.

That virtual thing only applies to those pilots getting FDA passover pay. A great deal for those so lucky!
