Quote: Saw today that Emerald has an app service. It's a bit pricy though. Does everyone use airlineapps or should I consider something else? Also, how long does an RR license take to get from the FCC? UPS requires one to apply.
Emerald's prep service was GREAT and I highly recommend it. It is expensive, and I was a bit unsure, but I'm very glad I did it.

I used their resume service too, and it was pretty good as well.

Highly recommend!

I just got off the phone with Mike Yoder at Aero Crew Solutions. They charge $99 for a one hour application review. He went through my application line by line with me and had TONS of great feedback. I highly recommend their service. I'm not sure what Emerald Coast charges for app reviews, but I'm sure their service is great too. I did interview prep with them and can't say enough good things about Aaron Hagan and his colleagues.

I did ask Mike at Aero Crew Solutions about the Class 1 medical expiration. He was adamant that the airline/app system will NOT kick your app out unless the date for your class 1 is more than 1 year old. i.e., according to him you do NOT need to renew it every 6 months if you're under 40 years old. Take it for what it's worth; if you want to get it done every six months because it gives you a warm-fuzzy that your app won't get tossed for something stupid like that, then by all means, do it.

straight from a united recruiter and head of HR at WIA yesterday : the first class medical only has to be current based on your age group. there is no filter that filters out medicals older than 6 months for people under 40.

I also verified this by emailing the HR department.

Good to hear they dropped that one, it was keeping a lot of apps out of view.

Quote: So, a pile-on question (that I probably know the answer, but curious to hear other opinions)...

For those of us stuck in RPA's, assuming we have enough "real" time to meet the mins or better, will our recent flying count towards currency?

Cheers,

Droopy
Droopy- I got out after 3 years at Creech, totally non-current. Non of the regionals cared, much tougher to be competitive at a major though. Every company wanted to hear about flying UAVs, but your time there is totally useless. Good Luck

Ditto with one exception - I did/do count UAV (Global Hawk) for my EFIS totals, although only jetBlue asks for that.
