Is it possible for someone to get an interview with FEDEX without internal recs? In the past I have been told it's impossible, and I was wondering, if still that is the case.

Yes, that is still the case. No internal = no interview.

I personally know of three guys that interviewed without an internal rec. But they had MD-11 time.

Actually, not the case anymore. OR specifically addressed this at the hub meetings.

If you have what Fedex is looking for you will rise to the top of the pile. Right now that is MD-11 time, and I guess 757 time as well.

People without internal recs have already been hired.

Straight from the System Chief Pilot NOT TRUE...

You can get an interview without the rec.. HOWEVER, it is MUCH MUCH MUCH more difficult. And your chances are very slim without it.

But there have been people hired in this most recent wave without an endorsement or rec from active pilots.

Don't send in your $75 ,90,150 or whatever were soaking applicants for if you don't have MD11, Boeing 7xx series FMS stufff, or something very serious to set yourself apart. Just meeting the mins isn't going to get you an interview ever if you don't have a rec.

Go get a part time job at your local ramp as a cargo handler.... Takes a while but will do the trick.

Thanks everyone for the info. It seems, this requirement is not as strict as it used to be. I am glad they are willing to give everyone an equal chance to be part of their team.

Not sure I'd employ the term 'equal' but perhaps fairer than it was before. Also, don't mistake the lack of a requirement for a good chance at a call without a recommendation.
