I was told that seven of the fifteen washed out or quit.

If they can't get through 1900 training, maybe it was best... If they couldn't handle training situations, how would they perform during an actual emergency? The planes only get faster and more complex from here.

There's two sides to every story. Nonetheless, their reasons for not completing training are not our concern. Best of luck to those who didn't make it.

I was in that class... I took a personal leave of absence right before my oral, but I'll be returning soon. One failed indoc test 2x, one quit after that on day 2 or so of systems, some didn't make it past the oral, some washed out in the sim... I don't know the final numbers, but out of the ones that made it to the sim, everyone of them failed the oral or sim at least once, except 2... which I was actually sim partners initially with one of them... The one I was sim partners with hasn't even got called for IOE yet, and it's been 4 weeks since he finished. Heck, he hasn't even gotten his uniforms yet... But, his sim partner got called 3 days later to do IOE, had his uniforms, and is on the line... I don't get it...

Welcome to the suck? Sounds about right. There's a lack of 1900 check airmen. 1 in fll don't know how many are left in cle and bil. The uniform thing was a cluster from the beginning. Don't get too excited to suit up to those wool pants. Unfortunately organization and communication are 2 major issues. Too bad more didn't make it through I know that means a worse time for those still stuck in fll 1900. Waiting for their transition class. They definitely need to pump up their incentive to stay here.

You'll get your uniform right before IOE and if you don't, no worries, they'll just patch you up with some Salvation Army or Goodwill stuff, don't worry they'll make you look like a silver pilot. Then, like if that isn't stressful enough they'll mess up your positive space to either BFD, DUJ for your IOE, but don't worry, its all good, you'll get here. The guys/girls that just finished training are not going to fly at all after IOE but again don't worry, after they disqualify for not flying 100 hours in 120 days it'll just be another trip to Toronto for a checkride, no stress...it really is no big deal, all you have to do is call crew scheduling about 3-4 times a day to remind them that you will disqualify. They'll say that you're not but right around day 118 they'll call you and ***** at you for not informing them that your haven't flown. One thing I can say about silver is that they go out of their way to listen to you, not! So maybe the guys/girls that washed out of training are better off. This place will suck the love of flying out of anybody.

I really don't understand why pilots come here.

Why such a high failure/washout rate? Are they hiring really low-time guys or is the training pretty lacking?

If other folks are handing guys $5,000 and putting them in a Shiny Jet, paying more, and have bases that are commutable..... what's the question again?
