If this has already been posted, let me know, and I apologize. BUT before I get attacked mercilessly, I did do a search of "retirements" and "age 65" on APC as well as Google, and further looked at the APC Airline profiles and only saw age 65 data for a few of the "big boys" and none of the others. Lastly, as I beg for pardon, I am using my smart phone, which is bit more work than using a computer or Ipad!


Just curious if anyone had the data or where to find it. Though the non-legacies are not as top heavy age-wise as the Legacies/Fed Ex/UPS, I would still imagine quite a few age 65 retirements will happen else where.

We have 50 or so here at Comair that will retire because of age 65. While 50 isn't a huge number, it is a big percentage of the pilot group.....

Thanks! I specifically looked at Comair, because I figured there were several "lifers." Also, all due respect to those retiring. You have delivered your passengers safely, and endured much to be where you are at. Enjoy retirement with family, friends, and hopefully a little money.

In the next 10 years at SkyWest:

2012: 1
2013: 5
2014: 6
2015: 9
2016: 7
2017: 12
2018: 8
2019: 13
2020: 20
2021: 21

Around 100 of the current 3100 pilots. Approximately another 400 pilots will retire in the next 10 years after that. (And it really doesn't pick up until 2027.)

And you guys are talking about the retirements at the regional level because? Of course the numbers will be small.

I wouldn't go more than 10 years out... it'd probably be a little foolish to expect any particular regional airline to still be in business by then.

Don't know where you pulled that number from, but looking at the latest seniority list, it's only 38 over the next 5.5 yrs.

Just saying...

Because movement is movement....? We can prognosticate about mergers, aircraft orders, acts of God, the ever present pilotage shortage, and the price of oil. But age 65, to me, seems like one thing that has some level of certainty.
