(CRM) Crew Resource Management teaches you to indentify and prepare for your biggest threat. Considering the UAL / CAL merger, what is the biggest threat to junior CAL pilots? That threat is seniority integration or the "SSL" (Single Seniority List).
Former CALEX manager and pilot hater, Jay Pierce has managed to infuriate the UAL MEC and their pilots. These pilots are loading up their top union bosses in preparation for battle with CAL. UAL has controlling interest. UAL has more pilots. UAL has all of the political and legal connections. UAL controls ALPA. Junior CAL pilots don't have a pot to **** in. Doomsday is right around the corner and Jay Pierce is making things worse for you every day.
Junior pilots. Are you really pro-union or is it just a social club for you? Jay Pierce hands out scraps of power for junior pilots and in return you let him run rampant. In the process, Pierce has created much distrust and a contentious atmosphere with UAL pilots. You don't care? As I mentioned earlier, you better care because for the most part, they will be dictating seniority terms. They will establish the start point and put you on defense from the get go. You will be using all of your resources, time and energy just to break even. Most of you are non-participants and could not care less what happens. On the other hand, UAL pilots are extremely pro-union and will take advantage of anything they can.
Why are many of you protecting Jay Pierce? What's the point? What has he done for you? Is he better than you? Is he smarter than you? Does he fly more than you? The only thing Jay Pierce has over the rest of you is Full Flight Pay Loss, PSO passes, a luxurious expense account with weekends and holidays off. He hates flying airplanes and will say and do anything to keep his cushy job. Why do junior pilots put up with this self servitude? Do you not see the huge UAL steamroller about to roll over you?
You have been warned of your impending threat. It's up to you to take appropriate action.
